Androgynous Fashion

Anchal Jain

World is a big fashion gala and we are just living in it! For centuries, fashion has changed in many forms and ways. There were always rules on how men and women should dress or how they should carry their outfits. But now, times have changed and as we progress more as humans, so does our fashion. Now, men and women no longer have to think twice about wearing their desired choice of fashion or clothing.

So, today we are going to talk about androgynous fashion. For those who don’t know what it means, let me break it down for you. Basically androgynous fashion is defined as fashion which has both masculine and feminine elements, usually blurring the lines between the two.

Here are some of the celebrities that are breaking all the stereotypes about fashion.

First up we have is one of our favourite singer of all time and sometimes he is high (on Watermelon Sugar) and yes its none other then Harry Styles. By remaining true to his name, he does have a signature fashion style of his own. He keeps on challenging the old-school thought of masculinity with his signature style.

Next we have is the world famous model and actress, Cara Delevingne. She can pull off any style with a rizz. On September 16, 2019, on her partnership with Dior, she quoted “Femininity doesn’t have to be pretty. It can be androgynous and it can be punk. It can be anything you want it to be”. She is a true inspiration to many of us with her iconic styles.

Another famous celebrity who keeps raising his own bar in androgynous fashion is an American rapper, singer and songwriter. Besides being a talented singer, Lil Nas X has an interesting and unique knack for fashion. He is never afraid to take on a fashion challenge and slays every outfit and style like a true fashionista.

You wouldn’t be able to recognize this talented Twighlight star now. Kristen Stewart's androgynous fashion truly looks subtle and effortless to one’s eye. From her head to toe, her fashion style screams androgynous fashion and we are so here for it!

Here is another celebrity who was a singer, songwriter, musician and an actor -- David Bowie. Despite being so talented, he had another talent that was being a fashion icon. His bold fashion statements were an inspiration to many and it still is! Even in the 90s, he wasn’t afraid to showcase his true self and broke the stereotype with his bold fashion looks.

She is an icon and she is the moment. From tux to tulle, this Euphoria star can pull off anything (you just have to name it). We are always high on her fashion style (and on her too). Her genderless fashion game is strong as always and being an inspiration to many of us.

Billy Porter is a trailblazer when it comes to androgynous fashion. He consistently challenges traditional gender norms with his bold and expressive style choices. From stunning gowns to impeccably tailored suits, Porter effortlessly blends masculine and feminine elements in his attire, creating looks that are both fashion-forward and empowering.

You might have seen her in Hannah Montana as a kid but now she has literally evolved, from her artistary to her style and yes you guessed it right! Miley Cyrus has become more open and bold over the years. She can slay formal and glamour both!

Next is an Indian celebrity, whose energy and dramatics in films are to die for! Yes its none other then Ranveer Singh. Other then his energy and dramatics in Hindi films, his fashion sense can be iconic and appreciatable. Even though he has been criticised for his unique fashion styles, he choose to break stereotype with his bold fashion statements.

This talented British actress is known for her various independent films and she dresses better than most men (and it’s a fact). Tilda Swinton is an icon of her time. She has a talent to switch from glamour to androgynous and vice-versa. Her fashion style is truly ground-breaking and an inspiration to many.

Here we come to an end of our blog. Hope you enjoyed reading something new about fashion and its industry. A little side note for everyone who is reading this. You can feel free to wear whatever you want and however you want. There’s no one stopping you and others opinion of you shouldn’t matter because you do you! Wear whatever makes you feel comfortable and makes you you! (Because as miss swift said, haters gonna hate).
