Yup, it's that time of the year again. Brat summer is finally over and now begins a very cutesy, mindful demure fall (iykyk). The leaves aren’t the only thing that’s changing, your wardrobe needs an update too! If you’re still in summer mode, wearing flip-flops and tank tops, we need to talk. Here’s a rundown of actual fall essentials that’ll make you feel like a cozy pumpkin spice latte in human form (minus the foam, of course).

Oversized Sweaters

If you don’t have at least one oversized sweater, what are you even doing? Fall is sweater weather, aka when fashion and comfort finally become friends. Get yourself a chunky knit that’s basically a socially acceptable blanket to wear in public. Bonus points if it’s in a “fall color” like burnt orange, olive green, or mustard yellow. You know, so people know you’re seasonally aware.

Boots, Boots, Boots!

From ankle boots to knee-highs, fall is the prime boot season. And not to mention how boots instantly give off “supermodel spotted grabbing coffee” vibes.  Even when you’re wearing the most casual fit, boots can elevate any outfit and the “thud-thud” sound they make always reminds us girls of our streets being our own personal fashion runway. Honestly, if you’re still wearing sneakers every day, rethink your life choices. Just remember to check if your boots are waterproof because puddle season is also upon us.

Scarves that are Bigger Than Your Future

It's time to remember our Mother (aka Taylor Swift) and the iconic red scarf of one of her best albums “Red”. Scarves are here to make sure you stay warm,  stylish, and just a tad dramatic. Why should we settle for a normal-sized scarf when we can wrap ourselves in something that looks like a cozy burrito? Absolutely perfect for those days when the weather goes from freezing to mildly warm in 30 minutes, and you need a portable cocoon.

Leggings (Because Jeans Are a Fall Lie)

Fall fashion magazines will tell you to wear jeans. Don’t listen. Real ones know that leggings are the superior choice when it comes to fall bottoms. They’re stretchy, they’re comfortable, and you can eat all the fall treats (hello, pumpkin pie!) without feeling like your pants are judging you.

Beanies or head scarves: For Bad Hair Day

Greasy hair? Tired of sleek backs? Hair won’t cooperate? Beanies can solve your problems. As we know fall is peak “bad hair day” season thanks to all the wind and random rain but beanies can instantly give you that effortlessly cool,  Pinterest-worthy vibe. It gives you those mysterious, “I’m a poet who drinks coffee in obscure cafes” vibes. Whether you're going for a sleek black beanie or a chunky knit one in a pop of color, this little head warmer will hide all your hair sins!

Turtlenecks: The Classic Comeback

Turtlenecks are back! And no, they’re not just for your grandma anymore. This timeless piece is basically the fashion world’s answer to staying warm without looking like you’re prepping for a blizzard. Whether it’s a lightweight version for layering under a dress or a thick, chunky one for maximum coziness,  turtlenecks are a must. Pro tip: Pair a black turtleneck with gold jewelry and a  leather jacket for a fall look that says, “I’m chic, and I know it.”

Trench Coats: For That Detective Look

Want to look like you’ve got your life together while casually solving mysteries like Sherlock Holmes? Enter the trench coat. This classic fall essential is not  only practical for those surprise rain showers but also makes you look like you’re straight out of a fashion magazine. Pair it with boots, a turtleneck, and maybe a beret if you’re feeling extra fancy. Suddenly, every street corner looks like it’s made for a dramatic entrance.

Plaid Skirts

Time to grab your earphones, play All Too Well (Taylor’s Version), and go on a long walk rethinking all your life choices. Just kidding! Here’s one decision that you’ll never rethink- Plaid skirts! If you thought plaid skirts were only for school uniforms, think again. A cute plaid skirt paired with tights and ankle boots literally brings out your inner Kendall Jenner. Plus, skirts in the fall are the perfect excuse to show off those cute knee-high socks you’ve been dying to wear.

So, there you have it! These fall essentials will make sure you’re ready to slay the season in style. Pro tip: Throw on a beanie with your oversized sweater and leggings, and boom, you’ve got the ultimate fall uniform. Cozy, chic, and just a little bit mysterious. Bonus? No one will know how much dry shampoo you’re hiding under there. Stay warm, stay cute, and remember: layers are your best friend!
